UFC on Fox 8 Preview Demetrious Johnson VS John Moraga

Flyweight title on the line! Demetrious 'Mighty Mouse' Johnson gets another chance to defend his title and the way he's fought recently nothing should change here. However, his opponent John Moraga, on a 7 fight win streak, is intent on proving his worth in this division. Moraga is strong on his feet and lethal on the ground, which is not good news for DJ. Demetrious has without a doubt the quickest hands in MMA, but lacks the killer blow and when in doubt he will always resort to his strong wrestling. This is where the issue is.

Mighty Mouse may well get Moraga on his back, but John will be constantly on the attack from there, looking for submissions and trying to advance his position. We have all the makings of an exciting fight. Don't miss a second of this one, the pace these guys set and continue throughout is awesome!
Who Wins
Demetrious Johnson by Split Decision

UFC on Fox 8 Preview Rory MacDonald VS Jake Ellenberger

Rory MacDonald! The name that so many expect Bruce Buffer to be announcing as welterweight champion in the not to distant future. GSP says he'll be champion for longer than Georges himself. Really? What do you think? Sure, Rory is talented and yes he has beaten quality opposition in the past, but the welterweight division today is stronger than ever and the talent pool runs very deep unlike some other divisions. Jake Ellenberger is the perfect example of that. After his loss to Martin Kampann, only a year ago, there was no chat of this brawler being a challenger. Fast forward 12 months and with consecutive wins over Jay Hieron and Nate Marquadt, Jake Ellenberger is being mentioned in the same breath as Carlos Condit and the like.

His striking is fast and powerful, as displayed against Nate Marquadt, with good octagon control Jake should find himself dictating the fight. Rory as we know, has all the tools in the bag to beat Ellenberger, maybe even finish him. He keeps his distance well with the jab and his crisp striking will keep Jake outside range, if used well. Being shorter Ellenberger will have to work hard to get in range, but this guy has the ability to do so, he's in red hot form at the moment and Rory having not fought for 8 months may be a touch rusty early. Look for the power in Ellenberger's hands.
Who Wins
Jake Ellenberger by TKO Round 1

UFC on Fox 8 Preview Liz Carmouche VS Jessica Andrade

The most recent challenger to the Women's bantamweight crown is back and looking to make amends after defeat at the hands of Ronda Rousey. Yes, Liz 'Girl-Rilla' Carmouche will be more determined than ever to get that chance again but, Jessica Andrade could well be the next big thing on the women's MMA scene. 'Bate Estaca', which translates to 'Pile Driver', is a fresh faced fighter out of Brazil, ready to pounce in her Octagon debut. Andrade's skill set is vast, quick on her feet and dominant on the ground. What makes this even better for the fans is she's a finisher, all of her 9 victories have been by submission or ko/tko.

Carmouche was gallant in defeat in her last outing, almost pulling off a surprise victory with a rear naked choke. Eventually she succumbed to the arm bar and she will be well advised to have prepared for more ground defence against Andrade. Jessica at only 21, won't be overawed by the occasion and will take the fight to Liz, wherever she chooses.
Who Wins
Jessica Andrade by Submission Round 1

UFC on Fox 8 Preview Robbie Lawler vs Bobby Voelker

'Ruthless' Robbie Lawler is back! His recent victory over Josh Koscheck was vintage Robbie. The constant pressure was back, the power was back, the strut is back. Bobby 'Vicious' Voelker was not totally out done in his first venture to the octagon, in fact it was probably a home town decision that denied him victory against Patrick Coté. Voelker's stand up was great and being in the crowd that night, you got a sense that he had done enough to earn the decision. He will come out firing, knowing anything but a victory may well have him on the chopping block.

Lawler has been around long enough to know what to expect from a man with his back against the wall, he won't be caught off guard with Voelker rushing in looking for the quick finish. Don't be suprised to see Robbie land a left hook that catches Bobby off guard.
Who Wins
Robbie Lawler by KO Round 1

UFC on Fox 8 Preview Michael Chiesa VS Jorge Masvidal

TUF winner Michael 'Maverick' Chiesa returns to the octagon against the experienced Jorge 'Gamebred'  Masvidal, to kick us off on the Main Card. 'Gamebred' is an aggressive fighter with an attitude to match. In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Jorge made mention of wanting to exact revenge on Chiesa for an incident with one of his team mates, interestingly he couldn't remember what happened in the incident or even name the team mate! He just wants any reason to dislike his opponent. Jorge should maybe just let his hands do the talking. Masvidal who's on a 2 fight win streak, should provide plenty of issues for Chiesa on the feet. 'Maverick' is a real battler. Undefeated in his professional career, his wrestling is top notch and to be any chance he will need to drag Jorge down as soon as he can. Chiesa's striking just isn't the same level as 'Gamebred'  so look for plenty of feints as he tries to shoot for the double leg.
Who Wins
Michael Chiesa by Decision

Nitro 9 Co - Main Event Review The Ultimate Revenge!!

Some say revenge is a dish best served cold, pretty cliché huh?
but Julz served up a red hot right hook for Kewl in their fight at Nitro 9.

In what was destined to produce fireworks since it was announced has conjured the "revenge" people only dream of getting in the co - main event at Nitro 9.

This rivalry is strong and it doesn't look like it's going to fade away any time soon, watching these two blokes go at it always leaves you in amazement.

A fight that is supposedly meant to be a hard task for both opponents ended a little bit quicker than everyone anticipated, Jackal V Bonez 2 was Jackals night no if's no but's, he simply outdone and outsmarted Bonez on every level, you hear someone yell out ten seconds Jackal switches on the afterburners throwing two punches then pushing Bonez away, Bonez backs up towards the cage Jackal see's his opportunity he pause's and cocks back his right hand...................BANG a massive right hook from Jackal has left Bonez dreaming at the dinner table, sorry Bonez but the only thing you got for dinner was a knuckle sandwich.

Julz defeated Kewl at 4:57 into the 1st round.

Kewl Bonez VS Julez The Jackal NITRO 9 Co Maintevent

The ultimate rematch between two hard nuts!!! So let's start with Kewl Bonez. Bonez is as quick as it gets when it comes to response time, you can be sure that when you throw a combo his way that he's ready to counter with an impressive barrage of punches or a beautiful takedown, don't take Kewl lightly he can be the deadliest fighter at the best of times. Julez The Jackal where do I start with you? An intimidating figure with some impressive ink, there is no reason you shouldn't be scared of this bloke. A man who loves the ground and pound and is lightning on his feet, will be hell bent on using his impressive skills to extract revenge on Bonez for dislocating his arm in their fight at FWC 10.

UFC 162 Review Anderson Silva vs Chris Weidman

Middleweight championship on the line. The most dominant mixed martial artist in history. The man who many believed to have the right set of tools to topple the champ. Wow, oh WOW! Weren't those people right.

In typical Anderson Silva style, he allowed his opponent to attack at will in the 1st to get a feel of the timing. Closing in on the end of the round Silva had his hands by his side and was seemingly inviting Weidman to hit him on the chin unguarded. Chris had already enjoyed the better of the fight so far, scoring a takedown and landing some nice blows, but Anderson seemed in control and the outcome from here would be all to predictable.

In between rounds Silva was still taunting Weidman, with hand gestures, inviting him to come harder. Round 2 began and the champ continued with more of the same, it got to the point where Anderson even faked going down, as if to say to Chris, your punches dont hurt me. Wrong! It was as if that was the last straw. In the same flurry of punches that saw Silva fake to go weak at the knees, he was falling backwards, eyes rolled, arms flailing, it was good night. The end of an era had come.
As one falls another must rise and Chris Weidman is the perfect man to fill the void left by Silva. He's as real a person as you can get. What you see is what you get. Dana White and his mates at UFC headquarters couldn't hope for a better person to help further grow the brand. He's a great role model, destined to be Middleweight champion for a long time to come.

UFC 162 Review Frankie Edgar vs Charles Oliveira

In my opinion, the number 3 pound for pound fighter in the world, returned to the octagon in true Frankie style. His quality opposition in Oliveira didn't make things easy though. It was trade mark Edgar from the first bell. He danced and picked off Charles early, working good angles. Oliveira wasn't to be denied though and he threw as good as he got late in the round, to keep up his chances of stealing the 1st. Frankie again was light on his feet in the 2nd and was able to land more telling blows before completing a big takedown towards the end of the round, however, Oliveira being a highly skilled BJJ tactician, would not lay down and let Edgar control him. The Brazilian national, locked in a tight guillotine that had Edgar scrambling for position, it was deep though and Oliveira had full guard. SAVED BY THE BELL! Charles had to release it, he came so close to getting the W at the end of the second.

Frankie taking Oliveira down hard

The former lightweight champion, did more of the same in the 3rd and final, taking the unanimous decision victory. He unfortunately will have to wait for a few others to get their shot at the belt before he gets another go at it. But he will get that shot. Don't take anything away from Charles Oliveira though, this kid is only 23 and went the distance with elite competition. He'll be around for years to come, with some added improvement in his stand up, expect to see him eventually get a title shot as well. Who knows, it may even be a rematch against Frankie Edgar.

UFC 162 Review Tim Kennedy vs Roger Gracie

Tim and Roger's first venture into the octagon, played out much the way many thought. The fight started off by seeing some nice combos being thrown by Tim on his feet, before Roger got the takedown and worked towards a dominant position. Kennedy's defence on the ground was very impressive however and Gracie, the BJJ black belt, couldn't work his way to attempt any submissions. Come the latter stages of round 1 and Rogers confidence looked shot, his strength was definitely not Tim's weakness.

Round 2 started the same as the first, with Tim dominant on his feet. Then the unthinkable happened. Tim shot in for the double leg and got the takedown! He was able to transition to side control from there and eventually back mount. He punished Gracie from there, easily taking the 2nd round. Gracie was completely gassed by the 3rd and Tim ran away with the victory by unanimous decision. Watch out for Tim Kennedy, he's a tough, well rounded fighter on his way to the top 5 in the middleweight class.

UFC 162 Review Mark Munoz vs Tim Boestch

Both guys headed into this one with the hopes of being title contenders by the end of the night. We started the fight by Tim getting the takedown and controlling Mark on his back. It didn't take Mark long to put his superior wrestling to play, and after being controlled for much of the 1st, he repeatedly took Boestch down in the 2nd and 3rd and grounded and pounded his way to a unanimous decision victory. Munoz was extremely impressive and showed exactly why he should be heavily considered when looking at contenders.

UFC 162 Review Cub Swanson vs Denis Siver

The main card started with a real fun fight for us fans. Siver, the kick boxer, against Swanson the brawler and BJJ tactician. The first round was dominated by Denis, hard leg kicks and quicker striking saw him take control of the stand up, he then followed that up by, surprisingly, controlling the fight on the ground. Siver's superior weight was taking its toll, he was noticeably larger than Cub and used it to his advantage keeping him on his back for the second half of the round. Cub was much better in the 2nd, getting inside Siver's range and using his unorthodox striking to back his opponent up. The 3rd round was all Cub. Siver who seemed gassed,  most likely from the weight cut, couldn't find an answer for what was being thrown his way and Cub pounced, cracking Siver  with vicious right, left combos, getting the TKO victory at 2:24 of the 3rd.

Tatts + Titles = Explosive Night. NITRO 9

A Quick glance at the poster for NITRO 9 and you get the feeling Adam Sandler is rallying the inmates yet again to take on the guards in a do or die gridiron match, holding a training session at the Logan Entertainment Centre, Brisbane, Australia on July 13th.

Looks can be DECEIVING!!! determination, precision, athleticism and a touch of class is guaranteed from the elite fighters crunching knuckles at NITRO 9. If Adam Sandler is involved his one of the lucky ones who snapped up a ring side ticket to witness it LIVE!

See the NITRO 9 Video Preveiw here

3 title fights on the card, headlined by 2 rapid-rising Aussie welterweights, as Hitman Ian Bone looks to keep a hold of his NITRO Welterweight gold against another local star in Corey "Major" Nelson.

Bone struck gold back in July last year which re-ignited the fighter within after coming of 2 honourable losses,  The past be the past as capturing the title put the Bone up another level in which he has continued in training and personal life, "new training camp, new ideas". The former Military servant and passionate family man brings money cant buy experience into the cage, 16 fights with NO decisions, 10 wins 10 finishes its GUARANTEED the results of hard yards will be on display. He'll let his skills do the talking as his focus is to get in the CAGE, fight the best out there, an get the job done!

Nelson who in terms of CAGE time is around the clock, he recently fought at AFC 5 in Melbourne Australia this past may where he continued his win streak to 4, with 4 finishes.
Nelson is also scheduled to fight at AFC 6 in august but he's busy schedule has him up in Brisbane for a chance to clutch on to gold!! Agressive to say the least, Nelson will be coming out full guns blazing with a little bit of momentum on his side looking to continue his streak.
A Win for either warrior is crucial with UFC TUF Nations around the corner, gaining that edge more of experience/victory is pivotal leading in to try outs in September.

What matters most is who wants it more!! the man that's going to come out with a win at all cost mentality or  playing it smart and sticking to a plan.? Implementing both strategies would be ideal.
Nelson is coming in to Bone territory! Does this add a touch of fire or will the focus of Bone be a level higher.?
Will find out July 13. You dont want to miss it!!!
