AFC 6 in Review

Well what an amazing night! Right from the first fight, with Joel Fisher showing off his skills to romp to a unanimous decision victory, all the way through to the lightweight title match with Daniel 'Hangman' Hooker retaining his title by TKO, this night had it all. The moment you walked into the room , there was a buzz in the air. People all around dressed in their favorite fighters walkout tops, deep in discussion about how 'their' man would be triumphant on such a big occasion. Sure some of these people would be going home disappointed the night hadn't gone as planned, but for the people not affiliated to anyone, what a perfect example of what this sport can deliver. Jake 'The Celtic Kid' Matthews wins by rear naked choke, Corey 'Major' Nelson wins by doctor stoppage due to vicious ground and pound he inflicted, Daniel Kelly wins by spectacular knockout and crowd favorite Peter 'Bulldog' Davenport wins by knockout. Any way a fight could be won was on display tonight. The skills that these above mention possess can not be underestimated. Right here, right now MMA is only in its infant stage. The potential we have in our own backyard is mind blowing and I haven't even begun to talk about 'Ruthless' Robert Lisita. Ladies and Gentlemen be prepared, this guy is going to blow up in a big way! As our ring announcer declared at the end of his fight, "these are the best featherweights in the southern hemisphere", not a truer word spoken. 'Ruthless', defeated an ex teammate of UFC fighters José Aldo and Renan Barao, by way of TKO, with a barrage of punches. At the end of it all none of this could've been possible without the hard work of all the guys at AFC. The Australian Fighting Championships, is so well put together, you could be forgiven for thinking your in Vegas (fight capital of the world) such is the show they put on. Merchandise, supplements, food , beverages and big screens these guys had it all. If you weren't there tonight, don't miss the next one, AFC 7 where the welterweight tournament final will be contested as Corey 'Major' Nelson will fight Jake 'The Celtic Kid' Matthews. More fights will be announced shortly so stay tuned. Wow! What a night it was!
