AFC 6 Corey Nelson vs Walber De Barros Review

The third fight of the evening begun with 'Major' Nelson the much more aggressive fighter, his oblique kicks were keeping Walber out of range. Walber intent on shooting for the double leg, did so, but Corey's takedown defence was much too strong. He did however get the takedown eventually and immediately looked for the heel hook submission. Once again though Corey was too strong and got back to his feet. 'Tete' looked tired at the end of the 1st round, it was clearly 'Majors' round. The second was the same, Corey with his side kicks and superior striking was proving to be too much for Walber. 'Tete' however got the takedown again, moving straight towards getting a submission. Nelson reversed him this time and landed some good ground and pound, bang, bang, BANG! A huge elbow that opened up De Barros was landed, he stayed alert, but the ref asked the doctor to inspect the cut. That was it, with blood pouring from just above his right eye, the fight was called and Corey 'Major' Nelson moves on to the AFC Welterweight final.
