The highlight reel clip combat fans across the world have seen. Anthony Pettis 'ninja' kick! stepping of the fence and landing flush on the chin of Benson Henderson, it is the clear image cemented in the minds of all going into the main event tonight.
Along with the UFC Lightweight Gold up for grabs, revenge & retribution came in all ways starting from the echoing boo's from the Pettis favored home crowd.
Pushing forward Henderson took Pettis to the cage looking for a single leg takedown, with a clear plan to eliminate the legs of the flashy Pettis.
Clinch work from Henderson followed by strong knees had the champ on route to play out a well structured game plan,
until Pettis flourished with strong kicks to the ribs.
Henderson caught another flashy kick from pettis which took the fight to the mat.
A phew seconds of hustle and bustle the Jui Jitsu black belt Pettis slipped in a lightning quick arm bar, Henderson's defensive positioning was perfect but with arms pointing in all directions, Pettis broke the hold (and Hendersons arm) sending a hush over the crowd as there was no clear tap from Henderson. Herb Dean (ref) stepped in signaling the end of the fight.
A verbal submission from Benson Henderson was the awnser to the mystery, stating the end of the fight.
