UFC 163 REVIEW LYOTO MACHIDA vs PHIL DAVIS

The battle for the next title challenger started with Phil on the front foot landing leg kicks. Lyoto sat back in typical Machida style waiting to counter attack and landed a really good combo that sat Davis on his backside, he followed up with a good knee, but Phil recovered to get the takedown and end the round in top position, 1st round ended being very hard to pick the fighter currently winning. The 2nd round mostly was a stand up chess game, Lyoto without a doubt landed the better strikes, catching Phil with great left hooks and head kicks, Davis again though got the takedown and finished the round on top. 3rd and final and what a back and forth battle, strong stand up from both guys, but this time The Dragon was able to stuff all takedown attempts, he landed the more significant blows. However, the rules for scoring MMA state that you are scored higher for ground control as opposed to significant strikes. Phil Davis got the unanimous but unconvincing decision victory
